Role
The Clients business strategy includes the growth of the Birmingham office from 30 to a 50 – 60 strong civil, structural and built environment capability which creates an opportunity for a Principal Engineer to lead the technical and management of a team of 10 people specialising in large Energy from Waste Projects.
You will be expected to report directly to and to assist and support the Head of Civil Engineering & Built Environment in Birmingham. We are looking for an ambitious and experienced Chartered Engineer capable of managing projects through delivery to financial close and to assist with growing the engineering team in the Birmingham office.
You will be given responsibility for the technical and commercial management of your own projects as well as leading a team working on major UK commissions such as large Energy from Waste plants. Part of this role will be leading the development of technical competence within the team.
As a Chartered Engineer you will bring to this role an enthusiastic and professional approach to solving Structural Engineering problems and preparing Structural reports. You will have demonstrated experience and an understanding of design involving most key elements of structures and to Eurocode Standards. Your technical knowledge should include the use of technical design software and it would be useful to be able to review/ amend using AutoCad or Revit software.
In order to develop in this role, it important that you are able to deal with external organisations by communicating in a manner that commands mutual trust and respect.
Experience
- Civil or Structural Engineering degree
- Chartered Civil or Structural Engineer
- Minimum 10 years’ experience and a proven track record of delivering large civil / structural design projects.
- Experience of working with Contractors in a design and build environment
- Experience of undertaking line management
- Experience of designing and checking civil engineering deliverables
- Experience of delivering projects to EC2 eurocodes
- Experience and Knowledge of BIM
