Job Profile A leading civil engineering and construction company mainly operating within the water industry and directly employing over 900 people are a rapidly growing business with over 250 new people joining our team in 2015 and numbers for 2016 projected to increase further. They are a business that believes in investing in their employees with over £1m spent on training and development last year.
Job Description Due to company expansion, we now seeking estimators at Assistant Estimators level through to Senior Estimators to join our growing Bidding and Estimating teams in Yorkshire and the North East.

Working for the Bids and Estimating team you will get the opportunity to join a growing business.
They have a very successful Bidding and Estimating department with a proven record of securing profitable work. You will be working on typical scheme values from £200,000 to £25M with the Water & Waste Water, Environment and Commercial industries across the whole of the UK
You will be given Internal bid support from Senior Estimators, Bid Managers and Designers to develop winning bids across Framework and open market tenders
This opportunity involves undertaking interesting and challenging projects with fantastic personal development opportunities within a growing but stable department
Candidate Specification You will have strong numerical and analytical skills with an ability to work to strict deadlines in a competent and efficient manner. Subject to the role being applied for experience of the water, highways and utilities industries, with a working knowledge of NEC Conditions of Contract is desirable. Strong IT skills and competence in using Microsoft packages is essential and experience in using estimating software such as Conquest or CCS Candy is desirable.

You must have excellent communication skills and thrive working to tight deadlines, being able to liaise with other professionals including the wider team, suppliers and clients.

  • The ability to work well under pressure and to strict deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A working knowledge of Construction Contracts (in particular NEC3) and Construction Specifications
  • An understanding of construction techniques
  • Strong commercial awareness
  • Enthusiasm and a positive attitude
  • A construction or engineering related degree would be advantageous but is not essential
